Islamabad: At least two Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials died when terrorists attacked them in a local hotel in Khanewal city of Pakistan on Tuesday, media reports said on Wednesday.
The officers came under attack while they were having food at a roadside restaurant where they reportedly went to meet a man, said to be an informer, reports The Express Tribune.
One of the victims was identified as Naveed Sadiq Sial.
There were three suspects — one of them had tea with the officers while two were waiting in the parking lot on a motorcycle, the newspaper reported.
Initial investigation showed it was a targeted attack.
The incident is an act of terror, South Punjab Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Sahabzada Shahzad Sultan told Geo News in a statement.
He further stated that the perpetrators were on a motorcycle. Among the CTD officials, "one inspector remained unhurt," Sultan said.
