Hope there will not be any further ISIS-K attack in Afghanistan after foreign troops exit: Taliban

Kabul: The Taliban spokesperson has said once the foreign troops exit Afghanistan he hopes the Islamic State will not carry out any attack in the country.

"We hope that those Afghans who are influenced by IS [...] will give up their operations on seeing the formation of an Islamic government in the absence of foreigners,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP.

“If they create a situation for war and continue with their operations, the Islamic government [...] we will deal with them,” he added.

The ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the blasts in Kabul on Thursday which left over 150 people dead.

The deceased included 13 US security personnel.

Meanwhile, as the last US military flight carrying troops left the Hamid Karzai International Airport (HKIA) in Kabul, the United States completed the withdrawal of its forces from Afghanistan, ending a two-decade-long war ignominiouslyy, with the Islamist Taliban in full control.

The last three US military evacuation flights departed HKIA just ahead of the August 31 deadline.

Foreign correspondents in Kabul reported how Taliban fighters rejoiced the historic event with celebratory gunfires after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan was officially completed.
