Kabul: A Taliban leader was killed during a drone attack in Helmand province of Afghanistan on Saturday, media reports said on Sunday.
Helmand governor’s office in a statement on Sunday said that Mullah Mohammad Rahim Mannan, also known as Mullah Abdulmannan Akhund, head of Taliban’s military commission and designated governor of Helmand, was killed in a drone strike in the province on Saturday, reported Tolo News.
According to reports, the strike took place in Nawzad district of the country.
As per Tolo News report, the statement added that four other Taliban members, including his two spokespersons, who were with Mannan were also killed in the airstrike.
The Taliban has reportedly confirmed the death of Mullah Mannan.
