North Korea has denied allegations that it was behind the reported $6.3 billion cryptocurrency theft involving Binance, one of the largest alleged cyber heists in recent times.

Kim Yo Jong, a senior North Korean official and sister of leader Kim Jong Un, said on Tuesday that the accusations were another "sinister attempt" by the United States to tarnish Pyongyang's international image, the BBC reported.

Her remarks came days after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued an advisory accusing North Korea of being responsible for the theft of virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange Binance on or around October 29, 2026.

The FBI has designated this specific North Korean malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor".

Meanwhile, Binance said withdrawals had been enabled for additional assets and networks as the exchange continued efforts to restore its services.

In an earlier post on X, the company said: "We are seeing hourly deposits exceed withdrawals, reflecting improving user activity and stabilizing flows."

Providing a further update on withdrawals, Binance said: "We will continue to restore additional assets and networks in phases as security checks are completed. Further updates will be shared through official Binance channels."
