Pakistan's state-run PTV sacks 2 journalists for showing Kashmir as part of India

Islamabad: Pakistan's state-run PTV has sacked two employees for showing "incorrect map of Pakistan" that was showing occupied Kashmir to be a part of Indian territory.

The incident was taken up in the Senate on June 8 after Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani referred the matter to the Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, reports Dawn News.

Confirming the  development, PTV tweeted: "Taking strict action on the recommendations of the Inquiry Committee designated to probe the airing of an incorrect images of a map of Pakistan on June 6 on PTV News, PTV management has terminated two officials found responsible for the professional oversight."

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari also reacted to the incident and tweeted: "Shameful.... Arshad Khan heading PTV since decades seems he forgot he is chairman n defacto MD of PTV not DoorDarshan... expect @shiblifaraz to take all measures to teach them what #Kashmir is meant to Pakistan."
