London: Amid conflict between the USA and Iran, the European Union's foreign policy chief has said that the recent breach committed by Iran in connection with the 2015 nucelar deal was not significant.
The policy head said that the moves could be reversed.
"We invite Iran to reverse the steps and go back to full compliance," Federica Mogherini was quoted as saying by media.
In recent times, Iran had stepped up production of enriched uranium.
Uranium is not only used for making reactor fuel but also potentially nuclear bombs.
It is responding to sanctions imposed by the US since it withdrew unilaterally from the agreement, reported BBC.
The breaches took place amid heighteneed tension between Iran and the US.
As per BBC report, the long-term nuclear deal involves Iran limiting its nuclear activities in return for the easing of economic sanctions, which have badly hurt its economy.
"Technically all the steps that have been taken, and that we regret have been taken, are reversible," Mogherini was quoted as saying by the media.
The United States withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Iran's oil exports and other sectors.
The nuclear deal was inked by Iran with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States in 2015, following which Tehran curbed its uranium enrichment capacity to win sanctions relief in return. Iran spared a 60-day deadline for the signatories of the nuclear deal to address Iran's interests under the deal.
