Putin praises long-term, stable Russian-Chinese relations ahead of visit to Beijing

Moscow (Sputnik/UNI) Relations between Beijing and Moscow are long-term and stable and meet the interests of Chinese and Russian citizens, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview, released on Thursday ahead of his visit to China.

"The further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries does not depend on [political] conjuncture that is why it has a stable and long-term nature. This fully meets the interests of our people and the adjectives of maintaining the international and regional security and stability," Putin said in an interview with China’s People’s Daily.

The president insisted that Russian-Chinese political dialogue was developing on the basis of mutual trust and respect, as well as taking in consideration each other’s opinions.

"We have established contacts at all levels - from the highest to the expert [level]. The parliaments, public organizations and, of course, business circles are engaged in the joint work," Putin pointed out.

Putin emphasized that due to the successful bilateral cooperation over the past 30 years, Moscow and Beijing had been enjoying the best relations in history.

Russian and China had completely normalized bilateral ties and brought them to a new level of strategic partnership, Putin argued, noting that the two states had settled all sensitive bilateral issues, including the border issue.

Putin will pay a visit to China on Friday and Saturday for attending the second Belt and Road forum in Beijing.
