Trump's Jerusalem gamble 'unites' the Muslim world

Washington, Dec 9 (JEN): Even before he took oath as the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump had been a much discussed topic in the Muslim world, mostly generating unfavourable reviews for his stance towards the community.

On the other hand, this has never deterred him from making his views clear. His actions reek of hatred towards the Muslims and if the travel ban had the community all tensed, his decision to formally recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has made things spiral out of control.

In simple terms, Trump, (unwittingly) has united the Muslim world.

Several Muslim nations, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan and Indonesia have protested the move.

People in these places have taken to the streets in large numbers to chant anti-Trump slogans.

Turkey too has joined in the name calling.

Trump, however is adamant.

He announced on Twitter, "I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. I am also directing the State Department to begin preparation to move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem..."

His decision has formally jeopardised US' neutral stance towards the issue.

Trump's move has been deemed outrageous by the United Nations too, who fear an escalation in the Middle East, which is presently undergoing a fragile phase.

Deadly clash too broke out after Friday prayers, killing at least one people and injuring at least 300 people across the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza.

US, which has allegedly used the UN to sanction North Korea, however found itself out of favour of the global watchdog.

The European Union too has made its stance clear and said that it will not recognise any sovereignty over Jerusalem.

"The European Union has a clear and united position: we believe that the only realistic solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine is based on two States, and with Jerusalem as the capital of both the State of Israel and the State of Palestine," an official statement read.

Meanwhile, the US decision had North Korea fired up, who through their state news agency reiterated the 'dotard' claim.

“Considering the fact that the mentally deranged dotard openly called for a total destruction of a sovereign state at the UN, this action is not so surprising”, a foreign ministry spokesman was quoted as saying by the state-run KCNA news agency.

North Korea's new statement is expected to bring in strong reactions from Trump, who previously referred to Kim Jong-un as 'little rocket man'.
