Dhaka, May 30 (JEN): Cyclone Mora has hit the coast of Bangladesh on Tuesday morning, lashing the country's south-eastern parts, reports said.

The Bangladeshi authorities have evacuated nearly 300,000 people, before the cyclone made its way towards the coast.

"The powerful storm made landfall on Tuesday morning between the fishing port of Cox's Bazar and the city of Chittagong, with winds of up to 117 km/h (73mph)," the BBC quoted the Bangladeshi Met department as saying.

The storm is expected to affect parts of India and Myanmar.
