The incident started when Chris referred  to Pinkett Smith's shaved hairdo and said: "Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2."

Smith walked up on the stage and appeared to hit the comedian on his face.

Meanwhile, Smith won the best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in “King Richard”.

Smith apologised for his act while accepting the prize.

He was quoted as saying by BBC: "I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to my all my fellow nominees."
