• Support the development of a vision for the DTL with buy in from Union Government and Karen National Union (KNU)
• Consult with stakeholders and gather information that can feed into the landscape and land use planning processes
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings and consultations on integrated landscape planning and management through scenario development with tools such as InVest
• Maintain close relationships with Government, KNU, civil society and other NGOs and promote coordination and collaboration on systematic data gathering and sharing
• Conduct stakeholder consultations with the aim of establishing key conservation corridors with developed land use plans
• Lead the work on ecosystem service mapping and natural capital assessments to support landscape discussions
• Lead the organisation and implementation of capacity building of Union Government and KNU departments in relation to ecosystem services, landscape planning and GIS
• Interact with donors, government, shareholders, and other partners as necessary in coordinating information, activities and attending external events/meetings in the region
Other duties and responsibilities
• Participate in proposal development
• Prepare technical reports on relevant programmes and projects when required
• Provide detailed technical support to the monitoring and evaluation of the landscape conservation strategy
Requirements
Education and Qualification
• Master’s degree (or equivalent work experience) in GIS, remote sensing, spatial planning, natural resources, environmental management, development studies, or other relevant technical fields.
• Expert knowledge in landscape conservation and spatial planning
2. Experience
• At least five years’ practical experience in stakeholder engagement, integrated landscape planning, preferably in Myanmar, South or Southeast Asia.
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and with key regional, national and international institutions
3. Skills and expertise
• Advanced technical/professional knowledge and skills in GIS, integrated spatial landscape/ land use planning, including use of tools such as InVEST, and GLOBIL
• Strong managerial skills, including applying strategic direction, planning and motivation of team members
• Experience in training and capacity-building, particularly in areas relevant to geospatial data collection, management and analysis.
• Networking, building working relationships with various stakeholders and communicating effectively
• Strategic thinking and ability to deliver constructive feedback
