"U.S. forces killed Abu Sayed, the emir of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), in a strike on the group’s headquarters in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, July 11." a Pentagon release stated.
The Pentagon also confirmed the death of several other ISIS-K militants caused by the airstrike.
Abu Sayed took charge as the leader of the militant group following the death of Hafiz Sayed Khan and Abdul Hasib, who were killed by the US-Afghanistan coalition in late July 2016 and April, earlier this year, respectively.
The US-Afghanistan coalition also carries out anti-terror raid at regular intervals to ward off terrorism from Afghanistan.
