New York: US network The CW will air a TV adaptation of Batwoman, a lesbian comic super hero, who hails from the fictional city of Gotham.
Batwoman, a DC character, was first introduced in 1950s as Batman's love interest, to repel the rumours of him being gay.
Later, in 2006, Batwoman's character was reintroduced as a lesbian woman named Kate Kane.
Her character description reads as an "out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city's criminal resurgence".
