Humanitarian Director (Bangkok)

Starting salary $76,125 USD per annum

IPPF is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all. We are a worldwide movement of national organisations working with and for communities and individuals.

The Director, Humanitarian leads the development and delivery of IPPF’s global humanitarian programme, which focuses on providing SRHR services in humanitarian crises. The role is pivotal in promoting IPPF’s global humanitarian strategy, 2018-2022.

The Director oversees technical assistance to IPPF Member Associations (MAs), so that they are prepared to respond to acute crises by delivering the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for reproductive health in crisis settings, and to upscale provision of essential services people affected by protracted crises. This work is supported through funds dedicated to the Humanitarian Programme over the next three years as part of the new IPPF Business Plan, including a growing portfolio of restricted funded projects.

The Director leads a multi-disciplinary team of humanitarian experts, supported by two Deputy Directors, based in the main Humanitarian hub in Bangkok and Pacific hub in Suva, Fiji respectively, and coordinates humanitarian capacity across six Regional Offices and IPPF Member Associations. The Director also represents IPPF at external meetings and advocates for the achievement of our mission and the SRH rights of people living in crisis settings. The post-holder will build and leverage strategic partnerships to mobilise resources for IPPF’s humanitarian efforts.

You will be a senior international health or development executive with significant experience in health, rights and/or protection in humanitarian settings. A true leader, you will bring the vision, creativity and charisma to empower and inspire colleagues, and to build productive partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including donors, political figures and senior volunteers. An analytical and diplomatic approach combined with extensive strategic and complex operational leadership experience, will be key to success. Fluent English – verbal and written – is essential. You will have a clear commitment to the values of IPPF and passion for the work of the organization. Regular overseas travel is an essential aspect of the job.
