Deputy Regional Director and Director of Campaigns - Europe Regional Office
Amnesty International's Regional Europe Office in London is looking for an experienced human rights campaigner and manager to serve as our Deputy Regional Director and Director of Campaigns for Europe to lead the development and delivery of impactful strategies to influence policies, practices, attitudes and beliefs to end human rights abuses and violations in the region. This a fixed term contract for one year (sabbatical cover).

ABOUT THE ROLE
Whether we are addressing restrictions on freedom of expression and on civil society activists, or violations of the rights of refugees and migrants, or denouncing sexual violence against women, our campaigns make a difference. You will lead the delivery of powerful global, regional and national campaigns in Eur ope that inspire people to act. Our campaigning staff will look to you for innovative strategies for action and solid guidance, both of which will stem from your strong communication across the organization to build public engagement.

Reporting to the Europe Regional Office Director you will oversee integrated planning and delivery for campaign projects in the region; ensure the overall quality of campaign plans and campaigning output, and will identify and foster opportunities for partnership and collaboration with other social and human rights movements and communities. At the same time, you will work closely with the Europe Director to manage the Regional Office, control budgets and motivate and inspire staff. Indeed, you will be integral to the corporate management of the International Secretariat, deputising for the Regional Director whenever necessary.

ABOUT YOU
Overseeing the planning and delivery of all campaign strategies in Europe, you will have extensive experience of leading campaigns at a national and international level. You will be well-versed in the human rights campaign lifecycle - from identifying issues to undertaking impact assessment - all using sound political judgement. You are familiar with the Europe region (EU, Balkans and Turkey) and will understand and have a keen knowledge on global human rights issues and trends. You will have a proven ability and substantial experience in managing people and teams and will be able to get the best out of people, whether that is through coaching, mentoring, capacity building or training.

Having worked in a leadership role, you have no problem managing cross-functional, multi-cultural teams; and you certainly know how to adjust priorities, hit deadlines and adapt to fast-changing political situations. Above all, you have the collaborative and creative approach needed to generate human rights campaigns that resonate with audiences and get results. You will have excellent written and verbal English, ideally with working knowledge of at least one more language spoken in the region as an advantage.
