Amnesty International's Regional Office in Mexico is looking for an experienced Campaigner to develop and implement campaigning strategies, managing and coordinating actions on human rights concerns by using and developing knowledge on specific countries or other geographical and thematic areas, and supporting and liaising with Amnesty International (AI) movement and outside networks to ensure maximum impact.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a research-based campaigning organization, building strong strategies for action to engage and mobilize our members, activists and partners is fundamental to achieve our goals and long-lasting strategies for change. Whether we are addressing restrictions on freedom of expression, or violations of the rights of Indigenous people, or denouncing sexual violence against women, our campaigns make a difference. You will contribute to deliver powerful global, regional and national campaigns that inspire people to act and protect human rights defenders.

As the Human Rights Defender Campaigner you will contribute to the development of overarching research and campaigning strategies to deliver impact, and to lead on the development and implementation of specific campaigning strategies to support them, managing and coordinating actions on human rights concerns in specific countries and other geographical or thematic areas aimed at effecting change in the human rights situation. You will work in close collaboration with researchers and other programme teams, as well as with sections, to launch campaigns for action by developing innovative campaign tactics and techniques, capitalising on communications and social media channels, and identifying and fostering opportunities for partnership and collaboration with other social and human rights movements.

ABOUT YOU
With experience of working on human rights issues, you must have first-hand in-depth knowledge and experience of strategic campaigning, including knowledge of the steps required to devise campaigning strategy and and awareness of the need for actions and campaigning techniques to be based on strategies and be adapted to effect changes in a given situation.

You will have substantial experience of strategic human rights campaigning, including knowledge of the steps required to devise campaigning. You must also have experience and an understanding of membership organizations, and the capability both to work on your own initiative and as a member of a large and diverse team, often under pressure.

Your background in activism, academia, social science, or communication with the ability to identify opportunities to ensure our voice has authority. You have strong knowledge of and experience working to address human rights issues and familiarity with international human rights frameworks. With your extensive experience of working from the region, you have a strong network and rich experience of undertaking this kind of sensitive work in the field. A natural collaborator, you need influential communication skills, impartial political judgement, coupled with strong strategic thought. You have excellent written and verbal Spanish and English.
