Regional Human Rights Education Coordinator (Asia) - (South Asia Regional Office)


Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka

Amnesty International's Regional Office is looking for an experienced Human Rights Education Coordinator to coordinate and develop Human Rights Education Programmes Online and Offline and implement together with colleagues Amnesty's Strategic Goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Access to human rights education creates the foundation for a rights respecting society, for (re) claiming rights. It underpins Amnesty's human rights work.

You will contribute to the development and implementation of regional plans, strategies and projects, coordinate the implementation of human rights education work online and offline, ensure the alignment with global and regional campaigns, contribute the human rights education perspective in the region to internal AI policies, approaches, strategies, activism and research.

You will together with colleagues scale up our Human Rights Education work with Human Rights Defenders, ensure the implementation of Amnesty International's existing human rights education programmes in the region.

This includes designing online and offline modules and courses, participant centred human rights education and capacity building workshops and learning processes focusing on nurturing knowledge, skills, attitudes and values; developing relevant and participatory human rights education training materials; and delivering such training to human rights activists, including Amnesty International members; proving the contribution of human rights education to change through Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact Assessment frameworks and developing, identifying and sharing innovative human rights education projects.

In addition, you will support with identifying and conceptualizing human rights education work with potential for successful fundraising and providing and presenting human rights education work in a way that helps to attract donors.

ABOUT YOU
With experience of working in human rights education, you must have first-hand in-depth knowledge and experience of the socio-political and economic context as well as experience of working with Human Rights Defenders in non-formal educational structures and environments in the region.

You have substantial experience in developing and conducting online and offline programmes for human rights education. You must also have experience and an understanding of membership organizations, and the capability both to work on your own initiative and as a member of a diverse and partly remote team, often under pressure. Experience in working in a matrix management structure is advantageous.

You have demonstrated understanding of human rights education methodology, including Education Technology and its implications. Understanding of a participative approach and experience-based learning Awareness of the implications of cultural diversity for effective delivery of training programmes.

With your extensive experience of working in South Asia and with Human Rights Defenders you have a strong network and rich experience of undertaking this kind of work in
the field. As a human rights educator you need the ability to develop visions, objectives and strategies to achieve goals of the human rights education programme. Candidates will preferrably have knowledge of one or more South Asian languages.
